Adams wrote the second edition of Aubrey Fisher's Interpersonal Communication: A Pragmatic Approach Textbook. She is a co-author of two books: Adams & Galanes, Communicating in Groups: Applications and Skills and Galanes & Adams, Effective Group Discussion.  She has authored several instructor's manuals in interpersonal and small group communication. She serves as Past President of WSCA. She serves as an associate editor for the Western Journal of Communication and for Women's Studies in Communication.
