David T. Morgan was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on January 5, 1937. After attending the Fayetteville public schools he graduated from Baylor University (BA,1959), and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (MA, 1964 and Ph.D., 1968). As a career historian he spent 33 years in the college classroom at Patrick Henry College, Texas A&M University, and the University of Montevallo and was a visiting professor at Rhode Island College, Temple University Japan, and Beloit College. He is author and editor of numerous books and professional articles, and in 1998-1999 he served as national president of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society. Since his retirement from teaching in 1997, he has lived in Alabama with Judith, his wife of over 53 years. He has two grown children, Cindi Reeves and Brian Morgan, and two grandchildren, Matt Reeves and Riley Paige Morgan.
