Poet David Z. Moronez was born and raised in Wisconsin and enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 18. Trained as a construction electrician, Mr. Moronez toured Cuba, Diego Garcia, with his mobile construction battalion unit (MCB-10). He rose in rank to an E-4 (Petty officer Third Class).
