Samantha Cutrara

Samantha Cutrara is a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Education, York University. Coming from a Women’s Studies and History background, her work on the transformative curricular model, Historic Space, has been her ongoing research focus since 2000. Historic Space is curricular model designed to encourage students to discover, discuss, and decode the signs and symbols that make up the national narrative. Her PhD work is an attempt to understand how marginalized students understand national history and citizenship in order to refine Historic Space for the practical application in history classes. As an interdisciplinary scholar, Samantha has presented at conferences in women’s studies, history, and education. She looks forward to getting to know other scholars interested in combining practical methods with transformative results. Samantha can be reached at: samantha.cutrara@gmail.com.
