Suzanne Joinson trabaja en el departamento de literatura del British Council, donde se ocupa de Oriente Medio, el norte de África y China. En 2007 ganó el premio New Writing Ventures de no ficción por Leila Ahmed y posee un máster en escritura por la Universidad de Goldsmiths, en Londres. Es consejera del Taller de escritores palestinos y se encarga desde el inicio del Proyecto para el Desarrollo de la Escritura en Siria, Yemen y Palestina. Guía de Kashgar para damas ciclistas es su primera novela.
