Meags Fitzgerald is a creative director, interdisciplinary artist and writer based in Montreal, Canada. She’s an award winning illustrator, graphic novelist and stop-motion animator. Under the pseudonym, HercuSleaze, she’s one of the world’s most recognized drag kings.
Fitzgerald is the author + illustrator of Photobooth: A Biography (Conundrum Press,) Long Red Hair (Conundrum Press) and its French translation, Longs Cheveux Roux (Éditions Pow Pow.) Her shorter comics have been collected in various anthologies and magazines.
As a creative director and illustrator, her speciality is in creating promotional materials for arts-based festivals across Canada. Her work is distinguished by her technique of combining of traditional inking techniques with digital processing.
Fitzgerald is an experienced public-speaker and regularly gives talks and workshops at post-secondary institutions, libraries and cultural centres. In the 2014-15 academic year, she was a thesis advisor for the Centre of Cartoon Studies.
She holds a BFA in Drawing from the Alberta University of the Arts (formerly ACAD) and a Post-Degree Certificate in Design from NSCAD University.
